Answers to our most frequently asked questions
About breast milk jewelry
What is breast milk jewelry?
Breast milk jewelry is a very special kind of jewelry – rings, pendants, earrings or bracelets – set with a stone made from your own breast milk. It lets you carry a tangible keepsake of this unique chapter with you, always.
How is breast milk jewelry made?
Once we receive your milk, it is first carefully stabilized to preserve it. We then blend the milk with a special acrylic resin, which creates a hard, durable material. This is cast in several thin layers, cured and polished until a gleaming stone emerges. The stone is then set in the piece of jewelry you've chosen. Your milk is quite literally preserved in stone – a tangible, lasting memory of this special time.
How can I be sure you use my breast milk and not someone else's?
Every shipment is processed separately, labeled and stored securely. We never work on several orders at the same time, so there is no chance of mix-ups. Trust matters deeply to us: we are moms ourselves and we know how personal this is. Our reputation rests entirely on care and integrity.
Will my jewelry look exactly like the photos on the website?
No – every piece is one of a kind. The color and texture of breast milk vary from person to person because of differences in fat, protein and other components. That's why the shade, shading and tiny inclusions can differ. It's exactly these unique characteristics that make your jewelry so personal.
Can the jewelry leak or develop an odor?
No, that isn't possible. The milk is treated and dried in the very first step of the process, so no liquid and no scent remain.
Who buys this jewelry?
Our customers are wonderfully diverse:
- moms who want to treat themselves to a unique keepsake
- partners or family members looking for a truly original gift
- parents who want a family heirloom or a memorial piece made for their child
- women who want to honor a special moment, a loss or a particular chapter in their life
Can you make custom jewelry?
Yes. Alongside our standard collection we also create custom pieces. We can accommodate personal wishes such as adding inclusions (for example a lock of hair, ashes or glitter).
How do I find my ring size?
The most reliable way is to have your finger measured by a jeweler. You can also order our ring sizer to easily determine your size at home.
How do I send you my breast milk?
After you place your order, you'll receive a leak-proof container and clear instructions. Simply fill it with your milk and send it back to our studio free of charge in the envelope provided. That way we can be sure everything arrives safely and in good condition.
Can I use older or frozen breast milk?
Yes, absolutely. Fresh, frozen and thawed milk are all suitable for turning into jewelry.
Do I need to ship my milk refrigerated?
No, that isn't necessary. We have years of experience receiving breast milk and have never had any problems with shipments sent without refrigeration.
How much milk do I need to send?
About one tablespoon of breast milk is enough. If you have less, half a tablespoon can sometimes be sufficient, depending on the design you choose.
Can you store my milk for me?
Yes, we can keep any unused milk for up to 6 months so you can have another piece made later. Please let us know in advance if you'd like us to do this.
How long until I receive my jewelry?
The average production time is 6 to 8 weeks from the moment we receive your breast milk. During busy periods it may take a little longer. Once your piece is finished, it ships from our studio in the Netherlands to your US address.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Both the breast milk shipping kit and your finished jewelry are sent from our studio in the Netherlands. The shipping fee is shown at checkout, and any import duties or taxes are the customer's responsibility unless stated otherwise at checkout. For several European countries we have dedicated stores so customers there can order in their own language.
Does the jewelry discolor or yellow over time?
The resin we use is UV-resistant and keeps the milk looking beautiful. After many years of prolonged sun exposure, however, the resin can slowly take on an amber tint. That's why we recommend storing your jewelry in a cool, dark place when you're not wearing it.
How durable is breast milk jewelry?
Breast milk jewelry is sturdy and long-lasting. With proper care it will stay beautiful and serve you for many years.
How do I care for my breast milk jewelry?
Here's how to care for your breast milk jewelry:
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and high temperatures.
- Don't wear it in the sauna, bathtub, shower or swimming pool.
- Avoid contact with perfume, alcohol and harsh cleaning products.
- Clean it with a soft cloth and a little lukewarm water.
- Store it in a soft pouch in a dark, cool place.
- Take care that it doesn't get scratched by other jewelry.
How long does breast milk jewelry last?
With proper care, breast milk jewelry lasts a lifetime and can even be passed down as a family heirloom.
Can I cancel or return my order?
Because breast milk jewelry is a personal, made-to-order product, it cannot be returned. Cancellation is only possible as long as we have not yet received your milk. If we have already started processing it, cancellation fees apply. Once production has begun, cancellation is unfortunately no longer possible.
Can I change my order?
Engravings cannot be changed once the order has been placed. Other changes are sometimes possible, depending on the production stage; a small fee applies. Please contact us as soon as possible if you'd like to change something.
Our customer service team is always here for you and happy to help – we do our best to reply as quickly as possible.
