Breast Milk Rings Made by Jewelers
A breast milk ring holds a stone made from your own breast milk, set in a band you can wear every day. It is the piece most mothers choose first, and for a simple reason: a ring is always in sight. Every glance at your hand becomes a small reminder of the months you spent feeding your baby.
Our breast milk rings are handcrafted in our own studio in 925 sterling silver or solid 9K, 14K and 18K gold, in yellow, rose or white. With nearly thirty designs, from a single round stone to slim stacking bands and rings with a diamond halo, this is the most complete part of our breast milk jewelry collection.
Choosing a breast milk ring
Metal. A sterling silver breast milk ring is the most accessible way to start and is finished with rhodium for a bright, white-gold look. A solid gold breast milk ring is stronger, more resistant to wear and better suited to a ring you will never take off. Gold is never plated at Mama Jewels; if it says gold, it is solid gold all the way through. Compare the two in our Silver Collection and Gold Collection.
Stone shape and setting. Round, oval, teardrop or heart, in a low bezel that sits close to the finger or a raised setting that lets more light into the stone. Designs like Luna, Lis and Liv are quiet and minimal; Charlotte, Merel and Naomi can add cubic zirconia or lab-grown diamonds beside the milk stone.
Occasion. Most breast milk rings are bought as a keepsake at the end of a nursing journey, but a growing number of couples choose one as a push present, an anniversary ring or even a breast milk engagement ring: a stone with a story no diamond can match.
Personalization. Most rings can be engraved on the inside with a name, a date or both. Several designs pair the milk stone with your baby’s birthstone; you will find those in our Birthstone Collection. If you would like a lock of hair, ashes, umbilical cord or placenta preserved with the milk, add an inclusion to your order.
How your ring is made
After you order, we send a free breast milk shipping kit with a leak-proof vial, a prepaid tracked return envelope and instructions. About a tablespoon of milk is enough. In the studio your milk is stabilized, blended with a special acrylic resin, cast in thin layers and polished into a stone that is then set by hand in your ring. Rings are the most detailed pieces we make: standard production is six to eight weeks from the day your milk arrives, and complex rings can take up to twelve weeks. The full process is described on our shipping page.
Frequently asked questions about breast milk rings
How do I find my ring size?
The most reliable way is to have your finger measured by a local jeweler. You can also order our ring sizer and measure at home. Because a breast milk ring is made to order and cannot be returned, we recommend confirming your size before you order rather than guessing.
Can I wear a breast milk ring every day?
Yes, that is what it is designed for. Take it off before showering, swimming, washing dishes or applying lotion and perfume, and store it in its box at night. Gold stands up to daily wear better than silver, which is softer and can bend with heavy use.
How much milk do I need for a ring?
About one tablespoon. If you have less, half a tablespoon is often enough, depending on the design. Fresh, frozen and thawed milk all work, and we can store any leftover milk for up to six months in case you want a matching piece later.
Is a breast milk ring the same as a breastfeeding ring?
Some mothers use the term breastfeeding ring for the same thing. Our rings always contain a stone made from your milk; they are not a plain band with a nursing symbol.
